The Associate Product Developer (Softlines) is responsible for making sure that concepts turn into cool Loungefly backpacks, bags, and wallets on retail shelves. They will manage projects from initial conception through our art team and into production in our factories. The position will collaborate with our external licensors (Lucas Arts, Marvel, Netflix, are a few examples), factories and sales teams to make sure that products are made with the required specifications. This position ensures key milestones and manufacturing/delivery dates are met.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Lead the magic behind the product pipeline by managing development timelines for roughly 30 new styles each month. Will keep projects on track, flag risks early, and deliver production ready sample (with supervision) to cross functional partners.
  • Bring the vision to life through daily communication with Design, Licensing, factories, and cross-functional partners—ensuring every product moves smoothly from concept to creation.
  • Champion the licensor approval journey by submitting products through proprietary platforms with speed, accuracy, and a keen eye for brand alignment.
  • Partner with our art team to guarantee assets are delivered on time, meet licensor expectations, and align with initial design submissions—all while ensuring costs hit the mark.
  • Create detailed, factory-ready tech packs that include materials, BOMs, EOQs, product instructions, and timelines. Will update and refine technical documents as products evolve.
  • Serve as the go-to technical expert for factory partners, answering questions and clarifying specs to ensure flawless execution.
  • Navigate production constraints with confidence, knowing what’s feasible and how to adjust to stay within manufacturing limits.
  • Review and approve all samples and packaging—from silhouettes to stickers—providing clear feedback to ensure every detail is accurate, on-brand, high quality, and licensor-approved before production.
  • Build strong relationships with licensors, ensuring every product meets brand standards, receives timely approvals, and ships in perfect form.
  • Master the details in our Product Development tracking documents, entering and updating product data to keep all teams aligned and informed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality and Compliance teams to identify risks early, resolve issues, coordinate product testing, and ensure documentation is complete across licensor platforms and internal systems.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Development or 2-3 year’s related experience in product development/creation in the consumer goods industry (accessories, apparel, footwear, etc.) – fast fashion; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with product tracking tools and software
  • Experience in bill of materials (BOM) creation, spec sheet (tech pack) creation, design translation, product and material experience
  • Understanding and experience with the product creation lifecycle in consumer goods industry
  • Strong attention to detail and organization to keep up with product changes through the development and production process
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Photoshop a Plus
  • Licensing Development a Plus!
Salary Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $33.00 - $39.42 hourly. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
